What is written about good teaching and learning through a study of any or all pedagogy, assessment and curriculum topics for students aged 11-16 for the subject of English. Be selective and choose 2 or 3 areas of teaching and learning upon which to focus (e.g. classroom environment). How does the physical environment impact on pedagogy, assessment and or curriculum, for instance what influence does ideology have on choices and how is this explained through a theoretical lens? Try to obtain a range of literature here that encompasses the Governmental, the practitioner, the theoretical and the research base. Think about the claims that are made and the evidence they provide for these claims. When searching for literature try to use the LBU Discover tool, this will ensure that you have access to the literature and will provide you with the correct citation. Literature that is more than 10 years old is starting to date, so be certain that the references are valid today. Please note that classroom environment is just one example from a myriad of topics that can influence pedagogy, assessment and curriculum. Other examples could be: Pupil setting through achievement compared to mixed achievement Classroom management/behaviour management Use of technology. But this is not an exhaustive list. Please also note that behaviour management is not the same as behaviourism. Behaviour management or classroom management can be influenced by ideology and theoretical perspective. A behaviourist follows the theories of behaviourism and would probably follow a classical approach to classroom management, whereas a progressive educator would have a different approach to classroom management.
