Based on your readings of Ch. 2, write a paper which outlines the beliefs of each of the three earliest threats to the church (Gnosticism, Marcionism, & Montanism), followed by addressing the major beliefs and contributions to the faith of each of the major apologists (Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Clement of Alexandria, Origen, & Cyprian of Carthage). Finally, evaluate how these early threats and the response of the major apologists changed the nature and clarified the beliefs of the early church.
